I have a saying that "I don't do clingy kids, it isn't my style". And it isn't, so they are well used to sleepovers with grandparents, cousins and friends. And I am fine with that. But school friends and teachers, in an unknown place, in the frezing cold (why did winter have to arive in Melbourne this week?). Right now, I'm thinking I am not fine with that.
I know she will return in two days time, safe and sound and even better than before.
And I will just keep telling myself that.
Wow! I am sure she had fun whilst Mum was at home worrying about the cold! My eight year old also wants to go on a camp and I am not sure I am ready!
ReplyDeleteAnd she will be but gosh, you're right, it's such a leaf of faith somehow.
ReplyDeleteI feel exactly the same way everytime one of my babies goes on camp! You think I would be used to it by now! It's only natural - you are their mummy!
ReplyDeleteThese are the little moments of letting go that I'm not looking forward to. Half of you excited that they're thriving, the other half terrified for their health, safety, happiness...not rational but primal. It can't be helped. Her beaming face and tales of a great time will make it all better. Jx
ReplyDeleteShe will come home with the biggest grin on her face and tell you all about the adventures of her first camp. My girls love their school camps - especially my oldest, who is the most 'clingyest' - but she has just thrived from the challenge of it all. She has worn her white E&K hair bow every day now - to school and to ballet class!
ReplyDeleteMy daughter has just come home from Guides and she still has the bow in her hair!!
