Pop

Oh, that sound is so addictive. Those buttons are so addictive. But I was warned.

I started out making these button hair ties from uniform fabric for our school fete which is this weekend. My bows sell at our uniform shop and they are a hit with the Preps but as for the older girls, a little too fussy. I thought these might be the go.

Then I started experimenting with some of my favourite fabrics. One of my all time favourite fabrics from Ella's dress.

And some scraps from my swap with Soo last year.

Then I came up with the idea of using old doilies. I truly love these.

They are really pretty.

Wow. They are gorgeous. And as a 30 something year old woman with long hair it can be hard to find hair ties that are decorative but don't make you look like a teenager. I love the doilies. I'd wear the white on white this summer. So their not just for young girls!

Tamara, I really truly love the doily idea - you've hit on something good - wish I had long hair to use them...sigh...

Nice school fabric. Which other local school did you get THAT idea from?

I agree - I find them totally addictive - why is it that they're so satisfying to make?

And you know what Tamara, are there any truly original ideas out there, or people for that matter? Everything I do is borrowed from somewhere else, but does that make the outcome any less lovely? Poo poo to the miss!

love the use of doilies on those. a friend of mine makes them with vintage hankies and embroidery bits.

SMITTEN WITH THE DOILIES! Gorgeous idea. Need to investigate why my button-making kit doesn't go 'pop' though - am obviously seriously missing out...
